"By the Waters of Babylon" & "Last Book in the Universe"
Hello my children ...I know you have anxiously been awaiting your assignments for the long Labor Day weekend, and here they are:
On Tuesday September 7th 1,6,2,4 must have their copy of "Last Book"
On Wednesday September 8th 7,3,5 must have their copy.
Over the long weekend read the short story By the Waters of Babylon.
Here is the direct link to the story. You can opt to print or not to print it out. (your choice) just make sure it is read by the time I see you guys on Tuesday or Wednesday, repectively.

In great detail, tell me about the setting of the story and what time period or year you believe it is taking place.
The main purpose of John's journey is______________________
What are the Dead Places?
What do preists seek there?
The "Gods" were really just__________________________
What city do you believe this takes place in? I will give you a hint: It is a major city in the United States :) (you find out at the end where it takes place)
Riddle: ASHING is what president of the United States?
When you are done reading you will answer these questions and bring them to class w you for discussion on Tuesday or Wednesday
I am also posting Guided Reading Response Questions for The Last Book in the Universe, which you will be answering as you read along with every chapter. You will also receive a pacing guide that indicates how many chapters should be read by each class meeting.
